NYC Day 2 + USOpen Women Final

We work up early today. Andrea had bought her ticket to Liberty Island to meet Ms Statue Lib at 9am. We went straight to Battery Park. While she board the ferry, I went for some breakfast. Then walk around the downtown area of Manhattan. Wall St, Ground Zero (which there was protest against building a new building on Groud Z) then was to NY Mercantile Exchange, The World Financial Building. Later we went to United Nation and Grand Central Station. Then from UN we walked all the way to Metropolitan Art Museum. Along the way we stumble upon the Peruvian embassy on 49th. Unc called and suppose to meet him in Chinatown for lunch. Met Maricel at the steps to the Museum. We decide to head to Chinos-town to meet Unc for lunch. Lunch was a nostalgic one. Remind me of the "chak fan" back home. My first time in US to have this kinda Chinese restaurant but apparently according Unc its all over Chinos-town in NYC....After lunch we went on seperate direction. Me and Unc went to Chinese Electornic store and JRD to cheack out PsP for my cousin while Andrea and Mari went to Lil Italy. Learn that buying stuff in Chinos-town you can have to luxury of not paying tax.
Later we took the 7 train to Flushing. Andrea got confuse as she stop at the last stop of 7 train but the tennis stadium is at Shea Stadium. Tons and tons tennis fans came flooding into the stadium as each 7 train arrive. We found out that the men's final would be Andrea Agassi who beat a newcomer while Federer bear Hewitt. We took load of picture in the ground, went to the globe and did a little people watching before went intot the stadium. We each given a JP Morgan Chase hat at he door. The opening ceremony for the Women Final was pretty fancy with fire works and singing of Americ the Beautiful by a choir and a unknown artist. Kim Clijsters vs. Mary Pierce. For the first time watching a Grand Slam tournement...i would rate this match at 70%. The beginning was pretty interesting where Kim and Mary gave a brilliant performance. But as the game run to the 2nd set Mary could not perform as good as she did in the 1st set. She had to rap her thigh and also prob is her age has cought up with her compare to Kim who is only 22. Final score 6-3, 6-1.
Clijsters climb up the stand to her family after the final point. Beside she also won additional 1.1 mil add to her winning check of 1.1mil. thanks to her triumphs in three of four US hardcourt tournaments linked together by the US Tennis Association as the US Open Series. After the match we decide not to follow the crowd head downtown instead we head towards Flushing for some supper. It was a nostalgic moment again for me. Its a amazing to find chinese restaurant open until 2am. remind me of "siang malam" in bukit china and all the "char koew teow" for midnite supper back home. After supper it was a long long ride back to Brooklyn.

Ground Z, UN, long walk to Art Museum, 1st Chinese "chak fan" in US, USOpen women final and 1st Chinese food supper in US......

Jack la! It was great to be in NYC with you and Maricel. I had a great time eventhough I complained because we walked like 10.000 miles!
